Every mobile phone user, expect to have all-day battery life. Unfortunately, such is not what we see on daily basis.

Mobile phones use lithium-ion batteries which are rechargeable. The life span of a Lithium-Ion battery is estimated to last about two to three years or 300 to 500 charge cycles, any of this is to be noted.

One charge cycle is when the device is used from fully charged, to fully discharged, and fully recharged again.

Lithium-ion batteries last longer and charge faster when Compared with traditional battery technology,

The older the device, the less charge it seems to hold and Individual users uses their devices in  different ways. This means degradation is inevitable.

Here are some useful strategies for iPhone and Android owners to make your battery last longer. Most of you may already know about some of the practices, but it worth taking note of the  following:

1. Enable power saver/ Low Power Mode.

How To Improve Your Phone’s Battery Life

Low Power Mode or power saver is used to extend the battery life of your phone when it starts to get low. Your Phone prompt you when your battery level goes down to 20%, and again at 10%, and give you the option to on Low Power Mode or power saver with one tap.

Low Power Mode play the role of optimizing device performance, reducing display brightness, and minimizes system animations. Apps such as Mail will not download content in the background, and other features like Continuity will be disabled. You will be able to perform the usual functions like accessing the Internet, making and receiving phone calls, email, and messages, and more. Low Power Mode automatically switches off when your phone charges up to a certain percentage.

2.Check apps battery usage.

The latest OS allow users to easily manage their device’s battery life because it is easy to see the proportion of your battery used by each app unless it is charging. To view your usage, go to Settings then proceed to Battery. You will see the various apps you’ve been using:

3.Limit background app refresh and auto-downloads

Users have the option to turn off the feature that allows apps to refresh in the background. Go to Settings proceed to General > Background App Refresh and then select Off to turn off Background App Refresh entirely or Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi & Cellular Data.

All auto-download settings must be turn off as it consumes battery when such app is updating in the background.
