Elon Musk, twitter new CEO has extended his lay off strategy to its only African workforce in Accra Ghana.

Over the weeks twitter has been in the news for reducing its workforce and this operation is a focus direction of the company to reorganize its operation and hence reduce costs.

This operation did not spare the only office staffs in Accra Ghana.

Twitter, the microblogging platform chose Ghana as its African Twitter work space. This brought a sense of belonging to the African people on the  microblogging social network. However, this has ended after the new CEO embark on a different steering direction of the the company after a  $44billion purchase.

In April 2021, Twitter inaugurated it first  African office in Accra Ghana as  away of being able to coordinate all the platform activities happening in the African continent. Ghana was chosen over other African countries as a result of stable democracy. But such operation has been suspended to achieve the major transformation of the company.

It has been noted that Twitter Staffs in Ghana has been working remotely for over a year now. This was brought to an end when they were ask to resume their usual back to office space kind of work. Unfortunately, workers got shock of their life when on Friday morning they were log out of their work email account and  a mail sent to their personal mail confirming the termination of their employment. The mail detailed with indication of their last day of employment to end on December 4, 2022. The affected workers said in an interview with CNN correspondent  that the mail delivered, did not addressed them by name as it came as an ordinary mail deliver  as an attachment.

The mail indicated that the affected staff will receive full benefits of their remuneration until the said date of termination which is first week in December.

But as in the case of US citizens, the severance does not extend to the Ghanaian people and this action go contrary to the Ghanaian labor law.
